Welcome back to Yeah, I Got an F#%*ing Job With a Liberal Arts Degree!
This week's guest is Dr. Chris Haufe, Professor of the Humanities and Chair of Philosophy at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Chris studied philosophy, economics, and women’s studies at the University of Michigan as an undergraduate and received his PHD in philosophy from Columbia University in 2006. Currently, his areas of research include the role of metaphor in science, conceptual and historical foundations of scientism and the epistemology of the humanities. The main reason we invited Chris on the show was to discuss his book Do the Humanities Create Knowledge? which was published by Cambridge University Press in 2023.
Jeff and Chris discuss the importance of sharing academic research with people outside of academia as well as the role of Office Space in our understanding of our jobs and labor to an analytical look at King Lear, and many books and authors in-between.
You can purchase Chris's book Do the Humanities Create Knowledge? here.
