Description

In this episode, we are talking about the ways we can support people with eating disorders and what impact eating disorders have on the family. Our guest, Sophia Vieira brings her expertise and experience to help us understand this complex and sensitive topic.

Sophia Vieira worked in the Metropolitan Police for twelve years, the last eight as a  serving Police Officer. Through her experiences, she discovered her passion for working with children and young people.

She began working as a Therapeutic Care Worker 6 years ago, and has worked in both Tier 4 (inpatients) and in Tier 3 (intensive outpatients) settings for children and young people with eating disorders: mainly Anorexia. The two approaches were very different, and the philosophy behind Eating Disorder's Home Care has evolved from these experiences.

EDHC are working to become one of the most renowned UK specialist services, offering high quality care to young people and their families. EDHC provides specialist bespoke home care and evidence-based interventions with the aim of reducing crises and hospital admissions.

If you are a family member or carer who is finding it hard to cope with a young person with an eating disorder or if you are over 18, living with an eating disorder and needing some specialised help, contact EDHC to see how they can help and support you.
