Coach Thompson's career includes leading Harrisburg to a AA Championship title in 1989 and a Class A Championship title in 2004, along with four runner-up finishes and a fourth-place finish. With 36 years of coaching and an impressive overall record of 920-276, he holds the record for most wins in Illinois history at one school and is the third-winningest coach in the state. Inducted into the Illinois Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997, he’s also in the Southeastern Illinois College Hall of Fame. Coach Thompson’s legacy includes developing 150+ college players, 14 of whom are currently playing, and sending 11 of his former players into coaching roles. His program has produced several all-state players and four All-Americans.
