Description

Dear Family,

I am a relatively intelligent guy. I have a few degrees and have been known to use big pretentious words from time to time. You know, when I talk with colleagues, I have no trouble talking about the change from methodological and didactic hermeneutics to the ontological hermeneutics popularized by Heidegger’s Sein und Zeit and the movement from a merely symbolic communication to a more contemporary and all-encompassing critical horizon of cultural language in general. But what I really prefer is to speak of the benefits of pseudepigraphal texts on second temple hermeneutics especially as it helps in contextual analysis, historiography, and the sitz im leben of form criticism.

Yeah, I know. Annoying. And probably past most of your understanding. Just as, let's be honest, most of what you do is beyond my understanding.

But this week I want to talk about something else that surpasses understanding. Peace. Peace in between two worlds. Peace when it's hard and ugly. And somehow trusting in a God who sometimes doesn’t seem to be there.
