Welcome to For the Love of Fiction and our first episode of 2024!
A more literary podcast, this episode was originally supposed to be uploaded in 2023 to mark the passing of author Cormac McCarthy. However, scheduling led to it being pushed back.

McCarthy is one of Gavin’s favourite authors and is oftenregarded as one of the greatest American authors of the 20thcentury, writing such classics as Blood Meridian, No Country for Old Men and The Road.

During the opening segment Marc and Gavin catch up and chat about the novels Venomous Lumpsucker by Ned Bowman, Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica, The Wind up Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi and the JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and its expansion, Torna The Golden Country.

Then, after a brief biographical segment, Gavin and Marc go over two of McCarthy’s greatest works, the aforementioned Blood Meridian and No Country for Old Men, and its film adaptation by the Coen Brothers.
