I grew up with little to no material wealth in a humble environment. As an adult, I've done well financially and I've noticed a common phenomenon when it comes to materialistic things. When you purchase something nice like a home or really nice car, the novelty (shiny) has a tendency to wear off over time. It's great to have nice things and be successful, but it only makes you more comfortable.
