Description

Caitlin Fielder is a master of sub-ultra trail and mountain running, now fresh off of her first 100 mile race at Western States where she finished 8th... a race she wasn't sure she could finish when she first lined up.

In this episode, Lauren and Caitlin discuss growing up in New Zealand, playing a variety of sports except running - in fact she didn't discover her talent for running until adulthood. Caitlin has been a marine scientist, a boxer, and a full time artist before developing a career as a professional runner; a career that she leads through a love of adventure and exploration.

We discuss the short path to her Golden Ticket entry into Western States, why she chose to accept, the heavy personal challenges of the months leading up to it, and of course - her experience on race day and in the days to follow.
