Welcome heroes so The Hard Thing Podcast's first Bonus Episode!
Before we get into the show a couple anouncements.
Today I'd like to make a very special invite. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Recently, our prophet invite the whole world to participate in a worldwide day of fasting and prayer in supplication to God that the Virus might be cured, caretakers and people suffering from the sickness might taken care of and protected.
I want to invite you to join us today in fasting that the current pandemic might cease. I also point to the fact that several US presidents have called for national days of fasting including George Washington, John Adams, and more. It was even a law that there was a National Day of fasting for the first part of this countries existence.
I wanted to talk more about Abraham Lincoln. He called for a national day of fasting prior to the Battle of Antietam in the hopes that the North would have a victory larger enough to allow him to issue the Emancipation Proclamation, which indeed happened.
I also quoted the Fast Day Proclamation that Lincoln put out.
I hope you do join me and other today to supplicate God, or whatever power you believe in to intervene on behalf of the world that the suffering might end.
This won't replace personal action, though. We still try and do our part, we just ask for a little miracle, that's all.
