In the mid 1980's, charity supergroups Band Aid and USA for Africa released massive hit singles with "Do They Know It's Christmas?" and "We Are The World" respectively, but both projects lacked any representation from hard rock and metal, which were also dominant forces in music at the time. Enter Ronnie James Dio and his bandmates Vivian Campbell and Jimmy Bain, who were at the helm of what would become Hear 'N Aid, metal's most charitable moment.
