A typo in the album title wasn't the only issue affecting this album's release in 1968. After the failure of the promotional singles from the record, the band broke up before the album was even released. While Odessey and Oracle was largely ignored when it was first released, the album embarked on a strange odyssey of its own that included a chance encounter at a record store, a #3 hit song, and Zombie imposters before finally landing on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
