As we approach Valentine’s Day, what’s the one skill most of us aren’t taught that would solve most of our relationship problems? In this episode we’re shedding light on conflict resolution with Erin Hansbrough and Mike Donovan, who are partners in life and co-founders of Pomegranate Coaching and Mediation.
Newsflash - we all have a conflict style! It’s time to normalize conflict resolution and harmonious communication so we can bloom stronger in our relationships. Serving both individuals and couples across monogamous, polyamorous and LGBTQ+ communities, Pomegranate’s mission is to offer guiding principles of collaborative communication and fulfilling relationships. This is done through couple’s coaching, mediation and also an online course called “Introduction to Conscious Conflict.”
Erin and Mike are passionate to the point of sheer nerdiness about conflict resolution - it was one of the conversation topics they initially bonded over! The business has bloomed from their respective backgrounds; Erin has a masters in Community and Regional planning and the coaching is a natural evolution of both her graduate work and career as a yoga teacher and therapeutic exercise trainer, and Mike has a Masters in Public Administration for Cornell and a background working in human resources. Above all else, they bring their hard learned lessons and insights from previous relationships.
The conversation concludes with some key takeaways, and we explore…..
What constitutes conflict, and how it can be normalized for more fulfilling relationships.
Resources for understanding our own values and guiding principles, as well as our individual conflict styles
How couples counseling and coaching are different, and how they can complement each other
Very common examples of day-to-day conflict
What’s commonly misunderstood about non-monogamous relationships, and how they’re more quick to shine light on the need for personal development in relationships.
