Welcome to another inspiring episode of Raising a Ballplayer—the podcast, hosted by Dr. Jimmy Onate founder of Do~Mojo Mindset & Performance Coaching, where we dive into what it really takes to raise focused, resilient, and high-character young people through sports, family, and real-life experiences.
Today, we’re talking about Achievers—and how success is often measured on the outside, even though it’s built on the inside.
We tend to see achievers in three levels:
At the low level, a young athlete might make the middle school or high school team—a huge accomplishment in itself. It means they’ve done enough to be noticed, to be included, to be on the path.
At the middle level, they start to get real playing time. They’re trusted, contributing, and becoming a consistent presence on the field or court.
Then there’s the high level—where a young person becomes the star. The one who leads, dominates, and often stands out as "the one to watch."
But here’s the thing—achievement isn’t just about where they are right now. It’s about how they got there, how they respond to challenge, and who they’re becoming in the process. Because every level has value. And every level brings lessons.
This episode is about recognizing that success shows up in different ways—and helping our kids navigate those moments with humility, hunger, and heart.
Let’s get into it.
