Noemi Beres is best known for her unique and witty mixed-media hand-sewn collages on canvas made from old photos, postcards, colorful yarn, textiles, and old buttons. Art has always been essential in her life, but she realized it could also be so important to others.
You don't have to be an artist to use and feel the benefit of painting, drawing, or collage-making. She collects small bits and pieces that she finds fascinating and incorporates them into a mixed-media collage that usually has a vintage vibe.
She usually starts out with no determined idea of the finished collage. Instead, Noemi lets the images and photos interact with one another to build the scenario. These fragments are liberated from their original context, salvaged, ripped, and repurposed anew. Memories, nature, and the Mediterranean life inspire her the most. She also makes many paper collages using newspapers, magazines, old books, and digital ones.
She is a self-taught artist from Hungary who has lived in Cyprus, Europe, for 12 years. She was part of several group exhibitions in Cyprus and Italy.
