Diana, when we started working together in ’77 I think it was. She had recently left her husband so she was single. She was no longer with The Supremes so she was a soloist, solo artist. She was coming off the success of Lady Sings The Blues and Mahogany and then The Wiz happened. So she was at the top of her game. Over the years a lot of people have come up to me and told me stories about her not being very kind. And my reaction to that is…I think it’s very possible that all of us have had phases in our life where we possibly weren’t very kind because of one thing or another. We have good moments in our life we have bad moments in our lives. As artists we are innately insecure and this business will eat you up and spit you out in a minute. Especially if you are at that level of stardom. But when I worked with her she was fan f’ing tastic!
