The Apostle John wrote this letter in order to assure the readers that they have eternal life. In a context where some leaders had bailed and stirred up doubt and confusion, John presents test after test, so that they can know for sure. This is the first message in a series in 1 John. Would you like to have this same 'blessed assurance' that you're *really* part of God's family? Wouldn't you like to know - beyond the shadow of a doubt - that you have eternal life?
