Steve A. joins Ron to recount how alcoholism impacted his life.
Despite having a good childhood, he was drawn to heavy drinking during college, which led to multiple suspensions and getting kicked out. He continued to drink heavily despite the chaos it caused, eventually losing his job due to alcohol-related issues.
After struggling with maintaining sobriety and experiencing periods of relapse, he was forced to accept help after being paralyzed below the knees after contracting an autoimmune disorder. This humbling experience led him to find support from friends and a sense of purpose in recovery, ultimately shaping his new life in recovery. He is grateful for the support and second chance he has been given and is determined not to make it count moving forward.
