Hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast please welcome to the show tonight famous film actor and radio performer Mr John Lund. Mr Lund\'s first film had him as star To Each His Own with Olivia Havilland for Paramount, in which he played dual roles. It was written and produced by Charles Brackett and was popular critically and commercially. Paramount used Lund as Betty Hutton\'s leading man in The Perils of Pauline , of another hit.He was one of many Paramount stars who made cameos in Variety Girl .
Billy Wilder then cast Lund in A Foreign Affair , as romantic lead to both Marlene Dietrich and Jean Arthur. It was highly acclaimed but failed to make him a major star.
He supported Edward G.Robinson in Night Has a Thousand Eyes. Brackett gave him the lead in a comedy Miss Tatlock\'s Millions. He played Alfonso I d\'Este, Duke of Ferrara in Bride of Vengeance alongside Paulette Goddard and MacDonald Carey, following the suspension of Ray Milland the film was largely ill-received by critics.
Hal Wallis used him in My Friend Irma as Al, boyfriend of Irma with Ms Marie Wilson as Irma. The film is best remembered however for introducing Martin and Lewis Jerry Lewis had meant to play the role of Al but realized he was miscast.
He supported Barbara Stanwyck in No Man of Her Own and reprised his performance as Al in My Friend Irma Goes West . Paramount announced Union Station for him but William Holden ended up playing it.
Lund went over to MGM to play the false love interest in Duchess of Idaho with Esther Williams and Van Johnson.
Brackett gave him another good role in The Mating Season , alongside Gene Tierney, Miriam Hopkins, and Thelma Ritter. He was Joan Fontaine\'s leading man in Darling, How Could You! .
Paramount wanted to loan him to Universal for Week-End with Father but he refused and was put on suspension. but what a lot of people may not know is that Mr John one also appeared in the old time radio show Johnny Dollar until 1954. in this first episode Mr John line plays a man who is the co captain on a yacht as they are leaving Venezuela he has a very poisonous snake to halt to the United States. so he informs the passengers about it but he tells them not to worry. but unfortunately mother nature hits when a big wave moves the boat. then causes the snake to be able to get out of his cage. so he tries his best to look for the snake. and it is called a shipment of mute freight. and then this next episode he plays the man who has worked for a GM of a hotel for years now and each day at 3:00 they always sit down for coffee but unfortunately for the man instead of enjoying this experience with his boss he hates it. so he works for the hotel as the assistant manager and one day when the maids are refusing to go in the room and clean a room because of rats. he decides to go in the room and is introduced by a doctor who is conducting an experiment on the rats. so the doctor tells him about this yellow powder that is called 6r which causes the victim in slow amounts excruciating pain until they unfortunately die. so the man has an idea in order to get the job of his dreams. he has to eliminate his competition which is the GM himself. but unfortunately for the man he does not know that his boss knows what he is doing until it becomes too late. and the title of that episode is called experiment 6-r which appeared on suspense in 1949.
