The process of dying and death are a part of each person's story. A topic many of us don't want to discuss, and one that can make us feel a sense of loss of control, our own deaths and what we want surrounding them from how we want to be remembered and celebrated to the details around how we want our assets managed and our stories told can go unspoken. When Tanner Martin was diagnosed with colon cancer at a young age, he and his wife were struck with the realities of his medical condition. Shay and Tanner shared their journey on social media, documenting Tanner's treatment as well as how they were preparing for and navigating Tanner's end of life. After Tanner's death, Shay is not only keeping his memory alive through her outreach and advocacy, she is also helping countless people prepare for end of life and feel less alone in the process through social engagement, advocacy work and her new podcast, Grief Witnessed.
