November 26, 2025: Thanksgiving, Snow Coming, and the Watchmen Warning
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.
A snowstorm is rolling in across Western New York, so be safe out there, take your time on the roads, and check on the people you love.
Today’s episode covers a lot — and all of it matters.
I start with the wild story breaking this week: Karoline Leavitt’s nephew’s mother arrested by ICE, despite having lived here since the 1990s. A reminder of how broken and cruel our immigration system can be when it’s weaponized for political theater.
From there, I dive into Watchmen — both the comic and the movie — because it might be the most important modern parable for this moment.
Who watches the watchmen?
That’s the question at the center of everything today. The film is a warning about unchecked power, creeping authoritarianism, and what happens when people convince themselves they’re the heroes while they’re burning the world down.
Then I talk about Twitter/X, and how this week exposed what many of us suspected: so many of the MAGA accounts are fake.
Not bots — but coordinated personas, often run by the same handful of people, sometimes even overseas scammers pretending to be “patriots,” running emotional grifts and donation schemes. People in America are being manipulated not just by politicians, but by hustlers halfway around the world who see our politics as a quick payday.
And finally, I tie it back to the bigger picture:
Trump didn’t rise out of nowhere — he was built by elites who broke the system, hollowed out the institutions, and left people desperate for something real.
But instead of fixing anything, they gave them a con man. And today, the threat to American democracy remains as real as ever.
