Have you ever wondered how real reality shows actually are and where exactly do they find these people?
Casting Director, Katie MacIntosh, Mac Worldwide Inc. has become one of the most recognizable and reputable companies in the casting world and she sat down with me to "dish" on the entertainment industry. "Casting great people is what I do, it's what I love," Katie told me as we sat down to eat a little lunch and talk about what she looks for when casting for a show and what really happens behind the scenes on set.
I have over 20 years of experience as a Producer in multiple entertainment formats and I LOVE comparing notes with other people in this industry. Katie MacIntosh's IMDB profile is quite impressive. She has worked with all of the major networks on reality shows such as "Life Below Zero," "Real Housewives OC," and "Temptation Island" and she ALWAYS delivers for her clients when it comes to finding talent and getting them to the finish line for a show in production.There is so much that goes into a production and, without a good cast, there is no show when it comes to reality programming.
THAT is where Katie MacIntosh and her team shine. In this episode we talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly of the entertainment business and casting for reality shows.
My goal was a play on words and I thought it would be great for us to have lunch together while we "dished" but the food felt more like a barrier between us and a distraction. Lesson learned, unless the food is actually a part of the interview, for example "Hot Wings" or "Chicken Shop Date," then I am not sure this works, at least not for me. I would rather maintain eye contact and not worry about how I look while eating on camera. You live and you learn.
