Anxiety, Stress and Worry
What are these emotions, why do we have them and where do they come from?
Stress - pressure or tension exerted on a material object. – That’s not the one
Stress - a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. Challenging situations (Perceived)
What is Anxiety - a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
Worry - a state of anxiety and uncertainty over actual or potential problems.
Now potential is a key descriptor in this. It’s important to understand because it doesn’t actually mean that there is a challenge situation or an actual problem.
It’s the perception or anticipation of a potential problem.
Some of us allow information in (or noise from external factors) and our brain is the amazing efficient factory of thoughts that are produced automatically, especially if we’ve practiced them over and over again. It’s like an assembly line that produces the same product over and over.
Our brain's product is thoughts.
Remember that commercial where you saw the guy get up every morning for work around the clock and say time to make the doughnuts – that’s exactly
For some of us who are really good at producing worry & anxious thoughts, it just gets up and says let’s go to work, time to create anxiety.
And literally is on the prowl looking for opportunities to create it.
What I’ve noticed is that once your brain is really good at it because it’s practiced it so many times, it can be challenging to just interrupt that pattern of automatically producing that vibration in our body that is anxiety.
This pattern is when you break it down is basically irrational thoughts about our thoughts
Let’s look at how this time of year can bring out that even more
If you’re like me you may have many things that present the opportunity for overindulging in this emotion.
This time of year can put together the perfect ingredients for us to be more anxious than normal.
Family gatherings
Holidays
Yearend Goals
Home projects (people coming over)
It’s the anticipation of what it will be like or how someone may behave disappointments
anxiety is kind of like a blanket of many emotions that are hiding underneath it
Hesitant, Nervous, Panic, Unsure, Apprehensive, Overwhelmed, grief, sad, Depressed, Lonely, Resistant
