An understory is an ecological term for the layer underneath the tree canopy and above the forest floor. It’s teeming with life and creativity but it also doesn’t get much sunlight.
It is a wonderful way to describe creative business.
If we only look at what creatives create, their outputs, we miss all the hard work and graft and ingenuity it takes to make a living from creativity - all the bits that don't get much sunlight.
That's the interesting part and what Understories is all about.
