Description

What up, Beasts? Welcome back to the show. Today I am hanging out with Marcia Williams. In this episode, I share a heartfelt conversation with Marcia, where we open up about our experiences with narcissistic relationships and the complex journey of healing that follows. Marcia describes her own path of recognizing and addressing narcissistic abuse, and we discuss how personal growth can be unsettling to those who seek to control us. Reflecting on my own past relationship, I touch on the lasting effects it’s had, like moments of self-doubt and hesitation even in asking my current, supportive husband for simple help. Marcia’s journey of self-discovery after her marriage is both inspiring and relatable, reminding me how much courage it takes to step away and start healing.

We also dive into how narcissistic abuse impacts our mental and physical health, from the ways it can wear down self-esteem to the stress-related physical symptoms it can trigger. Marcia and I both agree on the importance of seeking professional help—especially someone knowledgeable about narcissistic abuse—because the recovery process can be complex and deeply personal. Finding the right therapist was transformative for both of us, and we discuss the value of self-advocacy in therapy. Wrapping up, we touch on how sharing our stories can empower others, offering hope and support for anyone on their own journey to healing.

Marcia Williams is a seasoned licensed therapist with over 21 years of experience, specializing in helping individuals recover from the traumatic effects of narcissistic abuse. As the CEO of Hidden Flames LLC, Marcia offers a comprehensive range of therapeutic services, including individual, couples, and group therapy, as well as coaching. Her expertise extends to leading workshops and retreats designed to foster deep healing and personal growth. Drawing on her personal experience of a 30-year marriage to a narcissist and subsequent divorce, Marcia brings unparalleled empathy and insight into her work.

In addition to her private practice, Marcia is the founder of the Pathway to Peace Healing Program, a transformative initiative that has guided individuals toward healing. She is also the author of the book "Groomed: Life Married to a Narcissist and How I Overcame Narcissistic Abuse", where she shares her personal journey and strategies for recovery. Her upcoming podcast, "Self-ish", set to launch by the end of the year, will provide a platform for discussions on self-care, healing, and resilience.

As always, I hope something lands with you today. I hope something you hear tugs on your heart-strings and/or I hope you laugh.
