What up, Beasts. Welcome back to the show! In this episode, I sat down with Chad Austin. Trainer, author, and fellow believer that fitness should work with your life, not against it. Chad opened up about how movement became his best medicine after growing up with social anxiety and depression. What started as a detour from teaching turned into his life’s mission: helping people make fitness fit even when life doesn’t. We talked about the myth of “falling off track,” how your workout doesn’t have to look like it used to, and why doing less doesn’t make it less important. Spoiler: even the best athletes take off-seasons, so maybe we can stop beating ourselves up for not hitting PRs during back-to-school chaos?

One of my favorite moments was when Chad said the heaviest weight in the gym is the front door. That hit. We dove deep into the mindset traps that keep people stuck, like trying to recreate past routines, the addiction to quick fixes, and thinking you have to be perfect for 21 days to "make it a habit." (Nope.) Fitness isn’t about perfection, it’s about persistence. And bouncing back faster after the hard days? That’s where the magic lives. This convo was a reminder that your version of fitness is allowed to evolve with your life, and that aging strong, moving pain-free, and feeling like a badass with a barbell at 71 is way more inspiring than six-pack abs.

As always, I hope something lands with you today. I hope something you hear tugs at your heart strings and/or I hope you laugh.

Bio: When life throws us unexpected curveballs, it is crucial to be able to show up to take them on as our best.  Chad helps people figure out how fitness best fits in their life, so they can use it as the vehicle that drives them to being the best version of themselves.

Chad is the owner of Priority Fitness in Shawnee, KS, and is also a best selling and award winning author of the book series, “Make Fitness A Priority.” Chad helps his clients get off the inconsistency rollercoaster, so they can keep fitness a priority through all of life’s ups and downs.

Music by Prymary: Sean Entrikin (my hot husband) on guitar, Chris Quirarte on drums, Smiley Sean on keyboards, Rob Young on bass, and Jaxon Duane on vocals.
