Description

What up, Beasts. Welcome back to the show! In this episode of Unveiling the Beast, I sit down with life and transformational coach Susan Goodson to talk about pain, healing, and the lessons we don’t choose but desperately need. Susan shares how growing up in an alcoholic home shaped her, why she silenced her voice for so long, and how decades of leadership in Mary Kay pushed her toward her true calling: helping people find their own voice. We dive into the idea that pain isn’t punishment but part of the process of “birthing” something new in our lives, and how stuffing down emotions only leads to explosions later (sometimes at people who had nothing to do with the hurt in the first place). This conversation is raw, real, and full of wisdom about forgiveness, courage, and letting our light shine even in the darkest spaces.

We also go deep into Susan’s story as a mother, walking through her children’s struggles with addiction, what it taught her about unconditional love, and how she had to let go in order for them to rise. She shares what it means to redefine love in a way that doesn’t enable but empowers, and how that shift changed her not only as a mom, but as a human. If you’ve ever struggled with codependency, the pain of watching loved ones self-destruct, or the tug-of-war between wanting to help and knowing you can’t fix someone else, this episode will speak straight to your heart. Susan’s story is proof that the hardest moments can grow us into the most present, loving, and powerful versions of ourselves.

As always, I hope something lands with you today. I hope something you hear tugs at your heart strings and/or I hope you laugh.

Bio: Susan is a woman of courage and grace, a follower of Jesus, a wife, mother, and proud grandmother. After 41 years in leadership with Mary Kay Cosmetics, she retired to follow her calling as an Intuitive Clarity Coach for women. She has written three books, with a fourth on the way, and she also hosts Our Stories Matter on Women Lead Radio, where she shares the voices of moms navigating life with children who struggle with addiction.
