On September 16, 2013, the tranquil surroundings of the Naval Sea Systems Command headquarters in Washington, D.C., were shattered when Aaron Alexis, a former Navy contractor, unleashed gunfire. Armed with a shotgun obtained on-site, Alexis tragically claimed the lives of 12 individuals and left several others wounded before law enforcement intervened, ending his rampage at the cost of his own life.
This devastating incident not only gripped the nation but also reignited urgent discussions on security protocols and mental health awareness across military and civilian sectors alike.
