TRIGGER WARNING: Eating Disorder, Physical and Sexual AbuseBrittany lives in Connecticut, She is a pediatric and adolescent psychiatric/mental health nurse and is currently in grad school for nursing research and innovation, specializing in trauma and the biophysiological and socio-behavioral effects of abuse on children. Brittany's specific area of interest is preventing re-traumatization by way of animal assisted therapy. As a survivor of sexual abuse both in childhood and as an adult, her passion is to prevent other survivors from the decades-long struggles that she endured as a result of her abuse. This is a long episode but we felt every aspect was equally important in Brittany's story. We know the mention of these topics are tough but they are also very important to get out. Brittany has chosen the career path that she is on after enduring her own physical and sexual abuse.
