On Day 48, we are called to embrace the cross. Maturity means learning to let go of restless, self-centered thoughts and to live from the peace of oneness with the Father. So much of our pain flows from self-effort—trying to meet our own needs apart from Him. But the cross puts an end to the striving self. When we allow Holy Spirit to hold self in death, peace begins to reign. This is not the absence of pain, but the presence of His life in the middle of it. To embrace the cross is to surrender to the Father’s process—trusting that in every breaking, He is restoring your soul.
