This week I am joined by Paul Talty, a husband and father of two who works as the Head of Physical Preparation for Swim Ireland.
Our conversation begins with some Rugby World Cup chat, before we delve into discussing his childhood and the pathway he took to his role as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in professional sport. Along the way, we touch on the challenges of funding for elite athletes, Paul's inclination to sometimes 'go against the grain,' and the important lessons he learned in the early days of his career while working as a personal trainer.
We spend some time discussing the periods he spent in New Zealand, including how he met his wife while there (even though she was Irish!). Our conversation then shifts to the extremes of emotion he encountered leading up to the birth of his first child. Paul, thank you for sharing this with us!
Enjoy the episode.
