On July 25, 1959, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4–2 in a 10-inning game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The game was attended by 31,105 fans and lasted 2 hours and 11 minutes.

The Dodgers took an early lead by scoring two runs in the first inning. However, the Cardinals responded with a run in the fifth and another in the eighth, tying the game at 2–2. In the top of the 10th inning, the Cardinals scored two additional runs, securing the victory.

A notable incident occurred in the second inning when Dodgers' infielder Don Zimmer was ejected by home plate umpire Dusty Boggess.
