Every single day throughout the year, Faith Mission in Elkhart serves around 100 people through their meal offerings. On Thanksgiving and Christmas, they step up to include delivered meals serving around 500 on each of those days.Back on Thanksgiving, I had the opportunity to talk with one of the volunteers, Bart Matos. During our conversation, it became clear he loves giving back to Faith Mission because not too long ago in a former life, he was a resident there.
The Ronald McDonald House at Beacon Children's Hospital in South Bend provides Christmas gifts to families with sick children.
Playrooms at the Ronald McDonald House are filled with gifts for children of all ages
Families can gather free gifts for their hospitalized child and their siblings.
The program has been running since 2017 and is set up the week before Christmas
Various organizations, corporations, and individual donors contribute to the gift program.
The goal is to ensure that every child in the hospital during the holidays has gifts to open on Christmas morning.
This initiative aims to bring a sense of normalcy to families facing challenging circumstances due to illness.

Portland Airport in Oregon welcomed a pair of therapy Llamas to help ease the stress of travelers
Beni, Prince, and their handlers meandered through the terminals and brought some supreme joy
Portland Airport shared on Facebook: “We took an unconventional approach to helping travelers manage holiday travel stress and it got a lot of love. It was wonderful to see the smiles these Therapy Llamas brought to PDX visitors and beyond! A big thank you to @rojothellama’s Beni and Prince.”
