Psalm 103:1-2
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits
How often do you praise God for who he is? Perhaps it's just
me, but I'm much more likely to thank God for things he does or the gifts he gives than to praise him for who he is. I don’t often stop to simply ponder God’s character, and tell him how wonderful he is. So, we’re going to spend the next few days dwelling on this psalm of praise.
Tomorrow we'll come onto some of the many 'benefits' we can
thank God for. But today, what can you think of to praise him for? What is wonderful about God and his character? Here's what comes to my mind ... You can come up with your own list!
Lord, you are truly awesome. I praise you for your wisdom.
It's incredible that you can know each individual person across the world and throughout human history, and accomplish your plans in each of their lives, all at the same time. Nothing is too complicated or confusing for you. I praise you for your power. Nothing is too hard for you. You are never defeated or frustrated. I praise you for your patience. You are slow to anger and deal
gently with us, knowing that we are weak. You are wonderful Lord!
