Psalm 103:5-6

who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.  The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.

Have you noticed how, even in a global crisis, some things
carry on just as before? Oppression and injustice, for example. The news always seems to contain some story of an oppressive regime somewhere in the world mistreating its weakest citizens. Closer to home we hear about companies putting their profits ahead of the well-being of their workers. Of course, there are
also stories of volunteers who sacrifice their own comfort to serve others. But if we're honest we know that the sinful human heart loves to find ways to benefit itself at other people's expense.

How good it is to know, then, that God is never like that.
He never uses his power to oppress us. He never treats us as raw materials to use for his own good. He is on the side of the unfairly treated, the oppressed. When he came to earth, in the person of Jesus, he experienced an unjust trial and an undeserved death penalty.  And he is always at work to establish justice and righteousness. We won't see that fully completed until heaven, but even now we can pray for justice to be done and wickedness to be restrained. Let's do that today, giving thanks that the
power that ultimately runs this world is only ever good, righteous and loving.
