Psalm 33:5
The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.
What is your world full of right now? Uncertainty? Exhaustion?
Frustration? Joy? Sunshine? Rest? What is the whole world full of right now? Covid-19? Fear? Acts of kindness, even heroism? All those things may be true, and you could think of many others.
But let's not forget, the whole world is ALSO full of God's
unfailing love. The Hebrew word is 'hesed' and it's a really common Bible word, variously translated as 'love', 'kindness', 'goodness' and 'mercy'. If you know the Jesus Storybook Bible, you'll be familiar with Sally Lloyd-Jones' wonderful phrase 'God's Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and
Forever Love.' That's 'hesed'
It's not so much something God does (occasionally, when he
remembers or it seems necessary). It's something God IS. All the time. He is completely full of goodness, kindness, mercy and unfailing love. God's love is so abundant that it overflows into the whole world. The earth is full of it. There's nowhere you can go to get away from it. Wherever you are, whatever happens to
you today, you are never out of reach of God's unfailing love. When your love for him or for others fails, his love for you doesn't.
Let's praise him for that today. And ask for his help to remember that whatever our lives are filled with right now, they are also
filled with his unfailing love, goodness, mercy and kindness.
