We discuss how to handle situations that are thrown to the DM that is from the proverbial left field.

We are just a couple of nerds who enjoy the game. Ralph, who has been running games, and Conner, who has watched his father run the games and who has ventured out into the world to run some of his own. Together we talk about our passion for role playing and some of our adventures along the way.

Players throwing a wrench into the dm’s plan
Decide they want to go a different direction
Players did not pick up on clues
Player mistake?
DM made too obscure?

DM’s crit/kills player

DM’s forgot an important aspect/key
Laying clues for the players
Item need for aspect - did not let players know
Did not balance the encounter

Forgot they were carrying a particular magic item

Improvision
Dont have things set in stone
De able to know how to redirect
Know how to lay additional clues
Move your end game/location to accomidate

Be ready to be on your feet

Absolute worst case scenario, call for a break while you try to formulate a solution, it’s all about communication
