Description

After more than 5 years of self-employment with a service-based business, I've had my fair share of "nightmare" projects and clients and also A LOT of great clients! In this episode I share what I've learned about attracting the right kind of client and how good communication and education can prevent nightmare situations. Here are the basics we cover:

  1. Get clear on who your audience is and speak to them directly in your marketing, on your website, etc.
  2. Create a list of questions to ask yourself AND the client when considering taking on a new client or project.
  3. Create clear boundaries and communicate them to your client (in a contract and/ or “new client onboarding” page or pdf).
  4. Charge more! (check out my PRICING audio training). The client will be more committed and communicative, the perceived value will be higher. You might be doing yourself AND your client a disservice by undercharging, because it seems less valuable and “important”.
  5. Listen to your gut and stick to those boundaries you set!! If you feel like something is “off” in the initial consultation, really think about whether or not you should take on this client. You can say No!
  6. If you still need help. . . hire a business coach with more experience.
