Description

This is where it all begins: with a dream. Whether it’s Lehi dreaming it or Nephi, or any other of God’s children, we all can have a similar dream or vision. Of what does the dream consist? Experiencing the happiness of God after an arduous journey through mists of darkness by praying, pressing forward, and holding fast to the iron rod.⁣

Who are the journeyers? You and me. What’s at stake? Quite literally, everything. How do we obtain the prize? Walking in the strait and narrow way and holding fast to the word of God. If we fall? Come back. Are there obstacles? Yes, rivers of filthiness and prideful impositions, mists of darkness and scathing scoffers. Is it worth it?⁣

I, Isaac Lee, promise you and give you my witness that it is worth it to keep on the path, or come back to it if you have fallen off. It is worth the wait, the sacrifice, the bumps and bruises, the scrapes and scuffs, to taste the fruit of the tree of life, which is the love of God, which can be had in a measure 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 and in the life to come. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.⁣

You’re listening to a devotional address by Stephen Mendenhall titled "The Lord Is My Light," delivered on BYU-Idaho campus August 30, 2022. This is part one in a twenty-part series of talks that have ROCKED my foundation of what I thought my testimony was based on. Instead of ideas and facts, I've discovered that the true gospel roots us in relationships and touches our hearts far more than it proves itself on paper or appeals to our minds. SO cool and something that I totally feel can help you on your journey to the promised land. Have fun with it and see how the speaker's words can apply to your life! Enjoy!
