A comforting fact to all Christians is that Jesus is the Good Shepherd, caring for and protecting his flock now and for all eternity. The imagery reminds us that we have a personal relationship with our Lord and are known individually by him. Additionally, it means we have community as part of the flock, his church. All is due to the saving work of the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for his sheep.
