Description

We’ve all experienced frustration with the modern medical system and its reliance on averages over individuality. Jodie Lynn Craven and Walt Thiessen delved into this issue on today’s episode of LOA Today, sharing personal stories that highlighted the need for each of us to take responsibility for our own wellness journey.

Jodie Lynn discussed her fertility struggles and decision to leave a clinic that treated her “like a number.” She felt overlooked as they pushed tests without explaining underlying causes or solutions. Walt agreed it was “ironic” how doctors often blame inanimate body parts instead of seeking root issues. Both valued curiosity but found medical professionals often lack transparency.

This lack of education left Jodie Lynn’s mother worried by one kidney doctor’s fear-inducing language around potential dialysis, despite very low risk statistics. Walt questioned if such perspectives intentionally reinforce anxiety through nocebo effects. We must shift how we think to change nervous system programming.

As Walt discovered more healing perspectives through Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work, he wished he’d known alternatives could have helped his father years ago. But mainstream medicine discards placebo and extraordinary cases that don’t fit the “cult of the average.” Are pharmaceutical side effects considered ethically?

In taking control, Jodie Lynn found holistic care aligning with her desire to understand her body. Walt emphasized each person must stop relying on doctors and listen to their inner voice through self-awareness. Our extraordinary lives emerge by embracing possibilities rather than others’ limitations. How can we apply these lessons to support our wellness journeys?
