It's time to start thinking about your 2023 training plan. This episode is about base training.
Every episode we start with a short message from the Train with HEART program. I believe training requires more than just physical development. It is my mission to develop the whole athlete.
My newest program, not only develops and prepares the body for improved athletic performance, but aims to improve the whole person through healing, empowerment, awareness, reflection, and transformation.
Today we are going to discuss Healing.

Episode 1- What is Base Training
Many of us are currently in what most would call the off-season. It is time to recover from the previous season and use this opportunity to rest our bodies, build on strength, and focus on mobility.
Now is the perfect time to map out your training plan for the upcoming season.
Some athletes use "Periodization" to plan the season. Typically, this type of plan follows 4 main training stages - Base, Build, Peak, and Taper.
Decide on your race schedule and work backward. What is your "A" race? Or, what is your longest-distance race? The time frame for each stage is determined based on your current fitness level and race calendar.
Periodization takes a longer period of time and systematically breaks it down into shorter periods and applies to focus on specific elements of training to build fitness, improve performance, and maximize results.
