This portion of God's Word is often seen as a warning to the world or a warning towards the Church, and it's BOTH!
Those who have made a profession of faith in the ONLY Way-Truth-and Life, and those who continually reject the call to repent, and
come out of the world, and recognize Christ as Lord. There will be those who will fall along the way and turn back demonstrating that they were never truly indwelt by the Spirit of God to new life, and inevitably be numbered among those (enemies of God) who have clearly taken a stance of rejection towards their Creator.
By God's grace, let us continue forward spreading the Gospel of peace for the restoration of souls -- "Those who have ears to hear, let them hear".
