Welcome to this week's episode of the EdTech Speaks podcast where we interview Dr. Luke Hobson. He is a Program Manager at MIT and leads the product development team for new online programs for MIT xPRO. His specialties include Universal Design for Learning, learning sciences, simulations, podcasts, and scenario-based learning. He’s also an Adjunct Instructor for SNHU, teaching a variety of courses on leadership, marketing, and IT. Dr. Hobson is the founder of Instructional Design Institute and the host of the Dr. Luke Hobson Podcast. In addition to an Ed.D. (SNHU) and an M.S. (SNHU), he has also completed several higher education programs at Harvard University and MIT.
Dr. Hobson shares his story all about overcoming obstacles and realistic expectations of the instructional design world and several ways how to make the online learning experience come alive and not be a boring process. Today, when asked about using technology in his business, he says, "Literally, technology is in everything I design for online learning. Some examples would be making podcasts for online courses, using simulations, using social media platforms, etc. My purpose is to make the online learning experience engaging, fun, and interactive for students."
