Ike Sturm is the co-founder of the band Endless Field, an atmospheric jazz and folk acoustic combo. He's also a composer, and convener of a new worshiping community that meets in all places to jam at a church in Times Square. He's recorded everywhere from Denali to Acadia and in between - as in, literally, the wilderness.
In part two of our conversation, together we discuss how creative spaces fuel us; the labor of convening: so chill, making it look effortless; and the Christ-like vibe of playing music together.
