Series Title: The Gospel According to Jonah

Series Summary: The story of Jonah invites us to consider the nature of God’s compassion and mercy to those who do not deserve it. It shows us that the Lord uses those we would least expect to declare his forgiveness.  In this story, we see that the Lord breaks open the barriers and expectations we have about who deserves mercy.  In this six-week series, we will consider how this story reveals to us the mercy of God and calls us to share that good news with others.

Passages: Jonah 4:1-11

Speaker: Omar Ortiz

In Jonah 4, we see the prophet filled with anger at the Lord’s response to Nineveh’s repentance. The source of his anger is the compassion of God. In this sermon, we consider how another prophet, Moses, saw God’s compassion differently. We concluded by asking how our view of God affects how we respond to others.
