Description

On this episode you will hear from Bridget.

Bridget is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) and has been living with Type One Diabetes for almost 16 years.

Bridget was diagnosed with T1D in 2009 at the age of 17 and going into her senior year of high school.

In the beginning, at home with her parents was a lot helpful, where in college and on her own, diabetes became a bother at times. Her college years were a transformative time in her life.

Bridget wants to make sure that there is representation as POC with diabetes.

Even today, 15 years into her diagnosis, still she gets comments from people that think that the pump and technology does everything for her.

As her diabetes turns 16 in 2025, Bridget speaks highly on celebrating this milestone and having a themed sweet 16 party to celebrate her continued second chance at life.

Bridget speaks openly about how early on in her diagnosis it was more so about ignoring it and not acknowledging it.

The middle part of the journey was convincing people that she could do everything with diabetes. And this next phase is about being truthful to herself because she is a walking, everyday superhero.
