On this episode you will hear from Jordan. Jordan was diagnosed T1D on October 15, 1993, at the age of 7, 31 years ago.
She doesn't remember a life without diabetes. She does recall her diagnoses and her parents being tearful but her being so young, she was unable to conceptualize what it meant.
On her first day back to school she did a presentation with her mom on Type One Diabetes. This included drawing a big pancreas on a poster board. Her parents did everything in them to better Jordan's experience.
Today, Jordan is a mom, wife and all-around family person, an
Occupation Therapist and current PHD student.
After going through multiple pregnancies with T1D it left her with many questions regarding care for T1D and being pregnant.
Jordan's energy begins with her huge heart! Her family is extremely close. Her family has lived in Altadena for the past 6 decades. The house that she grew up in is her grandparents' home. Her family is well known in the community of Altadena, CA.
Jordan is the only one on both sides of her family that has Type One Diabetes.
Jordan is a PHD student and is doing her dissertation on Diabetes distress during pregnancy.
