Description

In this episode of Expect Diversity, our guest host Colleen Green converses with guests Taylor Spidell, who's a senior and is in many campus involvements here at Ferris State University; Autumne Peoples, who is a student manager in the office of Multicultural Student Services and also is in many campus involvements; and Michael Hopson, who is the director of the office of Multicultural Student Services and is new here at Ferris State University. They all talk about what Black History Month means to them. Black History Month began in 1970, and it became official in 1976 after being recognized by President Gerald R. Ford. Taylor Spidell thinks social media is powerful and has positively helped Black History Month because a lot of people don't watch the news; they get their news from TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat.
