Welcome back to another episode of FSU Student Life! In this new episode, Host Nick Campau speaks with the director of the DARC Megan Horn, and students Paul Davidson and Bella Brazeau. They discuss everything about the Disability and Accessibility Resource Center (DARC), and Ready for Life Academy (RFLA). Students Paul and Bella mention the challenges of first adjusting to college life, and the positive things that have occurred along the way. Megan Horn then mentions the differences between service animals and emotional support animals.
Then, Megan discusses the legal protections of emotional support animals and service animals, as well as the proper procedures for students registering service animals and emotional support animals. Next, Host Nick Campau and Bella Brazeau go into a deep dive on everything Ready for Life. Bella discusses how she first heard of the program and how she got involved with it. Finally, Megan discusses the differences between pro disability and ableist language, and how campuses and students can incorporate disability sensitivity and inclusivity into everyday college life.
