Paul appeared to take part in Jewish purification despite teaching that justification comes only through Christ, not the Law of Moses. Rather than compromising, Paul was exercising his Christian liberty, becoming “as a Jew” to remove stumbling blocks and win others to Christ (1 Corinthians 9:19–23). Believers must always remember that while traditions can be used for spiritual growth, our justification is always rooted in faith in Jesus alone.
