Description

Trigger warning: there is mention of sexual assault in this episode.

In episode 7, Marybeth, Marcia and Chloe discuss their identities, the complexities of identity and how embracing “your existence is resistance.” Marybeth and Marcia share childhood obstacles of growing up as WOC. Marybeth dives into queerness and her new experiences in a polyamorous relationship. Chloe relives the horror stories of past dating and friendships. The hosts examine whether disabilities should be presented as “terms and conditions” in dating and friendship relationships.

We constantly challenge ourselves and each other to fight internalized ableism/sexism/racism/colorism/homophobia/fat phobia/etc and recognize the privilege we have to have a platform where we can openly speak about these issues and identities.

After listening, we challenge you to ask yourself, "Who Am I Even?"

A message from DGWL:We do our very best to ensure we are inclusive to all members of the community. Not very many podcasts consider the deaf and hard-of-hearing population, but we applaud those who do and challenge those who don’t. That said, we are looking for volunteers to help us transcribe future episodes--there are transcriptions available online for our current episodes--but we still need help! Please send us a message on our website--www.disabledgirlswholift.com--if you have transcribing experience and are interested in joining the crew!
